Friday 1st November
Welcome to Sørveiv Music Conference! So glad you are here!
10:30-11:00 Keynote: Are We Ruining Everything?
Deputy head of Changemaker (and our very own head of booking) Johanne Moen Jensen will open the conference with a keynote on how we are ruining our own future by polluting the earth. How can we, the music business, contribute to a better future?
With: Johanne Moen Jensen
11:00-11:45 Panel: Environment and The Music Industry’s Responsibility
We follow up Johanne’s keynote with a panel where we will discuss what a green music business could look like. Is it even possible? We all know by now that the artists traveling is a problem, but what about the rest of us, traveling to showcases all over Europe? And what about all the trash that is produced at festivals and co.? By the way, did you know that Spotify’s gigantic server farms are an actual environmental problem?
With: Johanne Moen Jensen, Jon Olav Sandal, Mira Svartnes Thorsen & Jon McIldowie
12:00-12:30 Myrull & Under
Folk-pop duo Myrull were commissioned to create the soundtrack to the underwater restaurant Under, a newly opened restaurant in Lindesnes that has quickly become one of the most talked about and recognized destinations for dining experiences in the world. The result is a 53-minute composition that accompanies both architecture, nature and tastes of Under and is part of the overall experience of Under.
With: Rebecca Reimers, Vidar Arntsen from Myrull

This clandestine conference has been sitting in Kristiansand the previous two days, contemplating, arguing and fighting about all things moving the music industry worldwide. It operates under the Chatham House Rules, which means that nobody must be quoted on the things they say while behind the closed doors of RTC. Arne Dee from Live DMA takes the floor to give us an update on how Europe’s live venues are doing. Live DMA is the European network of live music venues and festivals and in charge of The Survey. Since 2012, data has been collected regarding numbers of activities, performances, visits, employees, income, expenses etc. How many artists perform? How many volunteers are involved in the venues activities? Is ticket sales enough to cover the programme costs? How much do visitors spend on food and beverages? Are venues relying on subsidy or audience expenses? These and many other questions are covered by The Survey. Arne Dee will give us an overview on the latest numbers and developments in the European live music sector.
